The Sanctuary Rescue & Rehabilitation is a small equine and canine rescue located in beautiful northern Minnesota on 80 rolling acres. We have taken in slaughter bound horses and horses whose owners have passed away.  Our dogs come to us as unwanted/unclaimed strays from multiple reservations or are on death row in high kill shelters. We are not limited to just these circumstances, and will take in horses and dogs on a case by case basis.    We are always looking for good foster homes!

The Sanctuary is currently home to 17 horses, 2 burros, 12 dogs and 4 cats, with others in foster homes waiting their new furever homes!

* For safety reasons, no children under 16 are allowed without an adult present , and all children must remain with an adult while at The Sanctuary.

* Please, do not bring your personal dogs to the farm.    We need to keep our pack safe and balanced.

The Lucky 7, formerly known only as "the bucking rejects", was the group that officially kicked off the rescue!     They were not offered to the public for adoption and were on the truck headed for slaughter.     We did not accept that fate for them and thanks to one generous person and some pursuading with the kill buyer, we were able to pay their "bail" money and saved the whole group.

Four of the 7 have been adopted and the remaining 3 are currently residing at The Sanctuary and are thoroughly enjoying just being lazy horses.

Check out their video!  There were a few tears that day when they were unloaded.
